Music videos from YouTube and information database from Last.fm combined, creates what they call themselves YouScrobble.

What it basically does is that it combines Last.fm’s music database with YouTube’s library of music videos and creates a platform for finding and watching artists perform.

While playing a song there, the site pulls data from Last.fm’s database and displays the artist’s biography, photos and links to similar artists.

The website is a complete design rip off from YouTube. Where YouScrobble gets the red light is that it allows you to download the songs. Although you won’t always get top quality sounds but it is illegal anyway as the sound files are simply ripped audios from the YouTube videos. What’s more astonishing is that they have paid plans for users who need to download more than 15 tracks in 24 hours.

The company claims on their font page that “YouScrobble uses Last.fm and YouTube to satisfy your needs and is therefore fully legal!”. Well the guys out there are in a deep misconception.

That’s not it for everybody. The site has been there since October 2008! What we can’t understand is that how have they prevented those lawsuits from the label companies coming their way till now.

This surely is going to exasperate the music label right-holders and who knows maybe YouTube sends them a lawyer too for their design rip-off! Those YouScrobble guys need to wake up before they land up in prison for converting legal content into illegal content and promoting them.

There’s a Map for That – The Verizon and AT&T Battle

Verizon Wireless made a television commercial that shows AT&T’s 3G data coverage as ineffectual and Verizon’s as substantial.

Let’s take a look at the commercial before proceeding.

Now, in what may be an ill-advised move, AT&T decided to sue Verizon over this commercial in a Georgia court. But AT&T isn’t really disputing that fact. Instead, it complains that the white spaced areas outside the blue 3G splotches on the AT&T map implies that there’s no coverage there. Hey AT&T, we guess your lawyers forgot to see the “AT&T 3G Coverage” being mentioned below your map so basically your they put on the wrong allegations.

Here’s AT&T’s specific complaint, via PC World:

AT&T says in its complaint: “In October, 2009, Verizon embarked on an advertising campaign designed to mislead consumers about the scope of AT&T’s wireless coverage.”

To support that conclusion, AT&T commissioned a study of people in a shopping mall who had seen the ad. AT&T says “almost one in four” thought the ads meant that AT&T provided no wireless coverage in many areas of the country. The lawsuit does not state how many people were interviewed, nor does it explain how the questions were posed.

Is this lawsuit just a desperate measure from AT&T in its campaign to change its image as an inferior wireless carrier with legitimate competitors? We have no comments.

$1.5 Million – The Cost For LA’s Free Email By Google

This seems like a ludicrous math but Los Angeles’ taxpayers are going to end up paying $1.5 million more next year as the LA City Council heads over to Gmail as a cost-cutting measure.

The City Hall is actually paying out a huge sum as part of a deal with Computer Sciences Corporation to help its employees migrate to the Google services. Apparently, the new system will actually cost more than the cost of maintaining its old legacy system, not less.

As Alex states,

Why, you may ask? It turns out that explaining Gmail to the employees of a city takes something called “training.” At first I was confused, given that Gmail is one of the simplest and most intuitive products ever created.

That must be the problem.

If you had been using Outlook, or god forbid Thunderbird for any period of time, to move to Gmail would be shocking. Where are all the bugs? Where are all the things that must be worked around to get something done? There are none? Quick, I need training.

Novell, which was bidding to take on city email services, looks aberrant: “With the City facing a massive budget deficit, the speculated budget benefits of switching to this untested application are enticing, but as a recent independent Los Angeles City Administrative Officer report has stated, the proposed system under consideration will actually cost taxpayers an additional $1.5 million in the first year. There are significant costs to migrating, training and securing Google Apps.”

But hey, isn’t $1.5 million too much for training people to how to use Gmail? We mean can’t they just head over to the Google Apps Resources for Communications, Training, and Support page and save the millions?

Alright, we have heard about iPhone Apps that can your home’s music system, control your home’s lighting systems or even a “I am rich” app which cost $1000 and did nothing but display a glowing red gem on iPhone screen for the sole purpose of proving to onlookers one is of the moneyed class; that’s all it did.

Today, we tell you about one App which really amazed us – an iPhone app which can drive a car!

The iDriver, developed by the Spirit of Berlin team, connects to the driving circuitry via WiFi and has an acceleration button, a brake button, and a steering button to control the car. The front camera’s video is transmitted to the iPhone in real-time. It is equipped with various sensors and a drive-by-wire system for unmanned driving.

Amazing. Isn’t it?

Here Comes Google Maps Navigation

Looks like TomTom, Garmin and other companies which offer navigation services by subscription are going to have a hard time keeping up with Google’s latest offering to its Android users – Google Maps Navigation (Beta) – an internet-connected GPS navigation system that provides turn-by-turn voice guidance, live traffic updates and the ability to recognize voice commands as a free feature of Google Maps on
Android 2.0 phones (currently only the Droid from Verizon comes with 2.0).

Alright, we missed one word in the lines above; it will come “FREE” of cost. Google said that the service might be supported by advertisements in the future which would help make GPS navigation from being a paid service to one that is free but ad-supported.

Eric E. Schmidt, Google’s CEO, said it is a boon to consumers, made possible by the increasing power of smartphones and the growing ubiquity of Internet access.

“Obviously we like the price of free, because consumers like that as well,” he added.

As the NYT reports, Google executives said they eventually hoped to offer the service on Apple’s iPhone and other mobile devices. But they said this would be up to those device makers.

Will Apple really team up with Google now, after their long battle to get the Google Voice App for iPhone approved in the App Store?
